Anything from walking to cycling can suffice. If you’re a beginner, aiming for 10,000 steps a day can be a good start for you.
Get Low on Fat
Control the cholesterol level in your body. It will help you in saving the eye.
Healthy lifestyle along with planned diet can help in attaining good glycemic control. It will prevent bigger catastrophe in eye. Keep weight in control.
Monitor Your Blood Sugar Levels
Routine blood sugar tests must be done to keep it under control. You can monitor your blood sugar levels. One way of monitoring blood sugar levels at home is through a glucose meter, which analyzes your blood sample and notifies the levels at a particular moment. Similarly, you can get your blood sugar levels checked by measurement of HbA1C. Regular follow up visit must be done.
Quit smoking and limit alcohol
Smoking itself contributes in development of serious eye disease. It will have added effect on eye in diabetes. Alcohol adds to it. So better to quit.
Manage Your Blood Pressure
Regular blood pressure measurement can help in prevention of eye problems. Try to check BP every 7 days in your local hospital.
Regular dilated eye examination by opthalmologist. Regular examination can detect minimal changes. If it’s diagnosed very early, outcome is good.
